The value Richard adds to clients in leadership positions comes through the practical application of his commercial, executive, international and coaching experiences. His purpose is to help clients develop the courage to pursue their ambitions and change lives by fulfilling their true potential.
Richard’s career in investment banking, private banking, and financial and professional services has included involvement with start-ups through to the management of complex multi-jurisdictional businesses. His CEO and Board experiences in South Africa, Australia, the UK and New Zealand have given him a unique understanding of what it takes to adapt to new environments, successfully engage across diverse cultures and build sustainable businesses.
In addition to his executive roles, Richard has been involved in numerous coaching and mentoring programs that have given him insight into the motivators of a really diverse group of individuals and how to be an effective contributor to their successes.
Richard’s work is typically with senior or aspiring leaders who have an identified development need, been recently promoted, taken on new or different responsibilities, or are contemplating career changes. His experience is that one-to-one coaching always results in sustainable behavioural change and helps clients achieve congruence between their personal and business objectives.
His work with leadership teams, whose performance is dependent on successfully combining different skills, experiences and personalities, is informed by his commercial experience and the knowledge that organisations prosper when they are led by high-performing teams.
After spending 14 years in London, Richard and his family relocated to Auckland in 2011. Since arrival, in addition to his commercial activities, he has been actively involved in charitable causes. In particular, he has been on the Board of Variety – the children’s charity since 2013 and currently serves as Board Chair.
